H G CRISP
Role: Planning, Building Regulations
Scope: Listed Building
Client: Suffolk County Council
H G Crisp occupies a Grade II Listed building prominently located on the High Street of historic Saxmundham. Originally a printing works it currently accommodates retail use on the ground floor but is largely vacant above. The site has a history of alteration and comprises an original 2½ storey block with street frontage and a number of out buildings and later additions. OWL Architects were asked to obtain Change of Use and Listed Building consent for the conversion of the upper floors to two self contained residential units. This required the creation of new entrances and an external access stair to the rear of the property together with sympathetic alteration internally. Following liaison with SCDC’s Historic Buildings Officer consent was granted in autumn 2012.
