Role: Planning, Design & Project Management
Scope: AONB, New Build
The site is an AONB situated on the east coast of Suffolk. OWL Architects brief was to build a hide overlooking marshland with the particular aim of providing a high level observation platform for viewing the elusive marshland Bittern. Access to the site was constrained and the ground unstable. OWL designed a new build structure supported some ten metres above the reed beds on a timber frame built off of a reinforced concrete raft. The hide itself was constructed from timber and clad in stained boarding with hinged opening viewing ports on the marsh facing façade.
