Role: Planning, Design & Project Management
Scope:New Build, Brownfield Redevelopment
Client: Bond Air Services
Bond Air Services is contracted to provide off-shore support services for the Greater Gabbard Wind Farm and required an operational base close by. OWL Architects designed, obtained planning and other statutory consents and project managed construction of the new facility at the Port of Lowestoft in Suffolk. A number of access and site constraints presented themselves, not least infrastructure for redevelopment of a remote harbour side site, fuel contamination and an installation constituting a special fire hazard. The works fell into three distinct elements: aircraft hangar and internal fit-out, external areas (including a structural raft) and fuel installation. Negotiation with a number of stakeholders was also key including Scottish and Southern Electricity and Associated British Ports.
