Client: The Greensleeves Homes Trust
The project involved the partial refurbishment and extensive rebuilding of the kitchen and staff wing of an established home in North London. Phasing was key to the project's success as the need to maintain catering facilities and mains services was an essential requirement of the home. The delivery of a commercial kitchen, laundry and staff facilities was achieved through a combination of demolition, new build and renovation coupled with serial relocation of existing facilities. Planning consent was contentious and negotiation with the local authority continued to the very end of the job. Works were compounded by the very poor condition of the existing fabric and the discovery of mains services installed at shallow depths.
